Scope of Project:

The primary goals of this project are to provide:

  1. Transect research which will resolve lithospheric-crustal architecture and fluid (magma/heat) pathways, providing a geological framework to resolve the differential endowment of terranes and structures (mantle-crust slices); and
  2. Train HQP for a future in the mining and mineral exploration industry or academia by addressing outstanding geological problems in the transect research area in the form of M.Sc., Ph.D., and postdoctoral projects.

 

 

Anticipated Outcomes:

  1. Peer-reviewed journal papers (listed by priority) 1) Crust-mantle architecture of the Abitibi and Pontiac subprovinces in the Rouyn-Noranda area; 2) Geodynamic evolution of the Pontiac Subprovince; and 3) Differential metal endowment along the Rouyn-Noranda segment of the CLLDZ: controls on Au-mineralization.
  2. Database release of geological and geophysical data; and
  3. Graduation of two B.Sc. And two M.Sc. Candidates.
