Metal Earth Field Update: Stormy/Dryden
Transect Field Team: Ben Frieman (RA), Rebecca Montsion (PhD), Kendra Zammit (MSc), David Downie (MSc), Amokelani Mavundza, (MSc), Luc Le Léannec (FA), Luke Smith (FA), Jordan Peterzon (FA), Lauren Norenberg (FA)
The Stormy/Dryden transect is one of the larger Metal Earth field teams this year with 1 PhD candidate, 2 MSc candidates, and 3 field assistants. The teams objectives vary from striving to resynthesize the stratigraphic and structural history of the Dryden area, to examining the large, synvolcanic Lost Lake intrusion and its alteration, deformation, and contribution to mineralization in the Lost Lake area southeast of Dryden. Updates from the Dryden researchers can be found on the MERC website below.
"Drone photo taken looking west over the Lost Lake area. Detailed mapping of this area will be completed over the summer to investigate the alteration, deformation, and mineralization associated with the Lost Lake intrusion and the Boyer Lake group volcanic host-rocks."

- MSc Candidate, David Downie.
"Alex Glatz and his wife with Ben Frieman (right) and David Downie (left).  Alex, who has been working in the Dryden area for over 50 years, has claims in the Lost Lake area and has been getting encouraging assay results back. Prospectors like Alex play a vital role in the grassroots exploration around this area and his in-depth knowledge of new and old occurrences alike are invaluable."

- MSc Candidate, David Downie.

New collaboration project with Labrador Gold Corp.
MERC Welcomes MSc candidate, Sam Attersley, starting on a collaboration project with Labrador Gold Corp in September.
Sam’s project will be done in collaboration between MERC and Labrador Gold Corp. (LAB) who has a large land position covering the Mesoarchean Florence Lake greenstone belt in the Nain province of eastern Labrador. LAB is conducting an aggressive exploration program in this area focused mainly on gold systems.

The MSc project is focused on the regional framework of the greenstone belt, focused on the volcanic stratigraphy, identifying coherent panels of strata and developing an understanding of the regional scale fault systems that juxtapose these rocks. It will be co-supervised by Ross Sherlock and John Ayer.
