Laurentian University brings mining and mineral exploration expertise to PDAC

(SUDBURY, ON - March 3, 2022) - Laurentian University’s Harquail School of Earth Sciences, Goodman School of Mines, and Mineral Exploration Research Centre (MERC) are hosting a booth on the Trade Show floor at the Prospectors and Developers Association Convention (PDAC) in Toronto from March 5-8, 2023. MIRARCO will also exhibit within PDAC’s Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS) to highlight its innovative research, technologies, solutions, and services. 

Representatives from Laurentian University are ready to discuss opportunities to meet mining sector needs in education, research, and technology, bridging current and emerging knowledge and skills gaps. Known as Canada’s Mining University, Laurentian’s dedicated Schools, programs, research and service centres support industry, government, students, and professionals engaged in all aspects of the mining cycle, from exploration and stakeholder engagement to mine development, planning, production, health and safety, and site remediation. 

Visitors to the Laurentian University and MIRARCO booths, #1230 in the Trade Show and #86 within the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase, will find information about programs, courses, professional development, research, services, career opportunities, partnerships, and more. 

PDAC participants should mark their calendars and attend the following activities/presentations:

  • MERC Short Course: New geophysical and geological insights into how crustal architecture influences the gold and base metal endowment of Precambrian terranes

  • Student Minerals Colloquium
    Laurentian MSc Geology students are the lead organizers of the 14th annual PDAC-SEG Student Minerals Colloquium (SMC) poster competition. Nine student researchers from the Harquail School of Earth Sciences will be among approximately 70 students presenting research from around the world. The Exhibit will be in the Investors Exchange, Level 800, Hall E. Attendees are invited to meet the students at their posters on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and to celebrate with them at the awards ceremony and reception on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., in room 713.
