As part of the Co-Op option in Mineral Exploration, within the Honours BSc. Geology program, MERC organizes and delivers a series of one- to two-day workshops. Scientific and Technical Writing:
The workshop provides tools, tips, guidelines and the grammatical rules for effective scientific and technical writing, including scientific manuscripts, theses, and industry and government reports.
First Nation Concerns and Exploration - Two sides of the coin:
The purpose of the workshop is to inform students of First Nation and Industry perspectives related to exploring on First Nation traditional land use areas, to learn about the treaties that govern exploration on First Nation Lands, and to learn, first hand, from their experiences. The workshop will be presented by experts from First Nation Communities, Academia, the Mining Industry, and the Ontario Government.
Introduction to Exploration, Resource Visualization, Resource / Reserve Estimation Methodologies and Mining Methods:
The workshop provides an introduction to the diverse careers that are available, and the skill-sets required, in the exploration and mining sectors. The workshop is taught by industry professionals and is designed for students, and for geoscientists new to the exploration and mining industry.
