Currently a research associate on the Malartic transect in Québec as part of Metal Earth project, Xiaohui is focussed on the geological setting of nickel and gold deposits in Abitibi and Pontiac Subprovince. His research interest lies in structural control and modification of mineral deposits in Precambrian terranes.
Xiaohui's research has been based on detailed geological mapping at various scales in several Archean regions, including Alasha Block (West Inner Mongolia, China), Rice Lake greenstone belt (Southeast Manitoba, Canada), Abitibi greenstone belt (Quebec, Canada) and Pontiac Subprovince (Quebec, Canada).
He earned his PhD at the University of Waterloo, studying the structural setting of greenstone-hosted and intrusion-hosted gold deposits in the Rice Lake belt, southeast Manitoba.
