PhD candidate Mineral Deposits and Precambrian GeologyVolcanic reconstruction and evolution of the Powell Block: Implications for Au Metallogenesis in Au-rich VMS deposits of the Blake River Group, Rouyn Noranda, QC
Determining the metallogeny of the Powell Block, Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, through detailed mapping of the volcanic stratigraphy and structure, and characterization of synvolcanic and synorogenic alteration and mineralization. I completed my B.Sc. at Memorial University of Newfoundland with an honours thesis conducted through the Geological Survey of NL, focused on the geochemistry and petrology of a layered mafic-ultramafic intrusion in the Ashuanipi Complex, Labrador. I switched to economic geology for my M.Sc. at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, focused on determining structural controls and geochemical vectors for ore-grade mineralization at the Karangahake epithermal system, New Zealand. I am currently working on the Metallogeny of the Powell Block, Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, through the Metal Earth Project at Laurentian University. My supervisor is Dr. Harold Gibson. This research aims to refine the structural and geological framework of the Powell Block and establish the spatial distribution of the synvolcanic and synorogenic mineralization and alteration within that framework, in order to better understand Au-enrichment processes.
